Senior Devops Engineer - CaaS

University degree in Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering, Information Systems, or comparable qualification.

• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

• 5+ years of experience in cloud-native environments, DevOps, and platform engineering.

• Extensive Linux experience, including advanced shell/Bash scripting and automation.

• Strong expertise in designing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines with GitOps tools such as GitLab, Flux, and ArgoCD.

• In-depth Kubernetes knowledge, including deployments, cluster administration, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting in large-scale production environments.

• Strong Go (Golang) programming skills and backend development experience with distributed systems, microservices, operators/controllers, and Kubernetes automation.

• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/EFK for incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability engineering.

• Advanced Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using Helm or Terraform.

• Strong cloud-native security knowledge, including secure cluster setup, secrets management, RBAC, and Kubernetes network policies.

• Collaborative team player with strong communication skills and a proactive, growth-oriented mindset.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Kubernetes networking (Calico, Cilium), service meshes, and multi-cluster setups.

• Cluster API experience and integration with storage, load balancing, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience with TelCo OSS/BSS systems or large-scale enterprise/private cloud environments.

Group Network Technology (GNT) is a key part of Deutsche Telekom, where international teams develop innovative telecommunications IT and network technology solutions across Europe, covering architecture, engineering, development, testing, infrastructure, and operations.

In Cloud, we build and operate Deutsche Telekom's on-prem Telco Cloud across all layers, from hardware to orchestration, using open-source technologies. Our chapter-based model supports expertise, learning, collaboration, and professional growth in agile teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of Kubernetes-based CaaS and PaaS platforms, with a strong focus on Golang backend development.

• Architect and implement scalable, reliable, and secure platform features.

• Develop and maintain advanced CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and GitOps.

• Integrate and improve monitoring, observability, and incident response solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.

• Promote best practices in coding, testing, security, and code reviews while mentoring other engineers.

• Own complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver highly available and secure cloud-native services.

• Contribute to platform architecture and deployment strategy decisions.

• Participate in knowledge sharing, technical leadership, mentoring, and on-call rotation.

We work in a flexible hybrid setup with three days from home and two days at the Telekom Campus.
